Families evacuated from a massive fire in a block of flats in August 2008 have begun to move back into their restored homes.

Eight properties in Thurlestone Court are being occupied again after the roof was repaired following the fire in the four-storey block in Howard Road which saw 70 people flee the massive flames.

Asha J sets sights on 2010

SOUTHALL singer Asha J is set to make a big impact in 2010 with a new album, modelling work and even a starring role in a feature film.

The singer's record 'Diwana the Album', due for release later this year, is written in three languages and mixes western, reggae, Bollywood and Punjabi music influences.

It's the New Year and I have many resolutions that I made. All with good intentions of course but many of which have failed to materialise. But then again its quality and quantity that counts right?

So I am happy to say that I am still attending my weekly martial arts classes and am still enjoying it.

Eid celebrations pass peacefully

ONE person was arrested for a public order offence following otherwise peaceful Eid celebrations in Southall over the weekend.

Celebrations took place to observe the Muslim holiday, which marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

Extra Graves For Southall

Extra space for up to 50 Muslim graves has been allocated at Hortus Cemetery in Southall.

The area in Merrick Road was marked on Tuesday, October 21, at 11am following a low-key gathering at the cemetery.

Gurdwara Election Protest

A PROTEST outside the Charity Commission in London has been rescheduled by the opposition in the run-up to the forthcoming Gurdwara elections.

Opposition members had planned to protest tomorrow at what they claim is unfair treatment by President Simmat Singh Sohi.


A war of words has broken out ahead of the election at the Gurdwara after allegations of underhand tactics.
