Southall Charity Drive

A charity drive to help those in need in the run-up to Christmas is being planned by
Southall holy man Guruji Singh.

Mr Singh, who does regular charity work in Southall, is appealing for people to donate warm clothing and blankets to help the less fortunate make it through the winter.

The Adfam organisation is reaching out to grandparents in Southall who are bringing up their grandhchildren because the birth parents are drug users.

Family Changes is a London-wide scheme which aims to raise awareness of grandparents' feelings of isolation, shame and loss and promote best practice in delivering responsive and appropriate support for carers.

Charity Event Planned

A fundraising event for St Ann's School in Hanwell will take place at the Monsoon Banqueting Suite on Monday November 24.

The event will include Indian music and food and will guests will include Richard Barnes, Deputy Mayor for London as well as Seema Kumar, deputy mayor of Ealing.

An organisation is being set up in Southall which hopes to reunite mothers with the children they were forced to give away.

Reunite Mums and Babies aims to address the issues raised when children are born in secret and handed over to other families to prevent shame in the Asian community.

A charity has offered to help people displaced by a fire at a block of flats in Southall last month.
