Rotary has inaugural meeting in Southall

THE Rotary Club has finally been brought to Southall following its inaugural meeting late last month.

On Friday January 29, civil dignitaries including councillor Barbara Yerolemou, Mayor of Ealing, Richard Barnes, Deputy Mayor London and Martin Gudde District Governor for Rotary in London gathered at The Crown Banqueting Suite in Ruislip.

Each member was presented with their Rotary pin and welcome pack.The Southall branch will be the largest Rotary Club in West London, and one of the largest in the capital.

Founder President Umesh Sharma, a past Mayor of Ealing, will be leading the club through to 30 June 2011, when local businessman Ali Ahmed of Montag Estates will take on the role of President.

Mr Sharma said the club is committed to embracing all aspects of the community, and delivering services across Southall.

It currently meets on a Friday evening at 7.30pm at Caffe 26, 26 The Broadway, Southall.
