A jury has retired to consider its verdict in the trial of a woman accused of murdering her lover of 16 years by poisoning his curry.

Lakhvinder Cheema, 39, was allegedly murdered by his married lover Lakhvir Singh, 44, after he became engaged to a younger woman.

Police found two bags of herbs in Singh's coat and in a handbag at her home in Southall. They were found to contain the poison, the jury at The Old Bailey heard.

Singh, who lives in Marlborough Road, Southall, denies murder.
