Blair Peach report to be published

Posted by James Gates on Jul 1, 09 05:10 PM in Crime

THE FAMILY of Blair Peach may finally have access to the report concerning the investigation into this death in Southall in 1979.

The New Zealand-born schoolteacher and Anti-Nazi League member died following clashes with police during the Southall Race Riots. No-one was ever held accountable for his death.

Last month, members of the Metropolitan Police Authority supported a motion calling for the report to be published.

Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson agreed to review the document to ensure redactions are made concerning legal issues and fairness before publication.

The MPA has asked the Commissioner to publish the report by the end of 2009.

We'd like to hear from you.
