Health event in Southall next week
National charity Bowel Cancer UK is launching a bowel cancer awareness DVD and volunteer recruitment drive in Southall next week.
The launch event will take place on Tuesday (June 30) at the Dominion Arts Education Centre, The Green, Southall between 11am and 1pm.
The new DVD entitled Sehat Apni Apni (Our Own Health) is dubbed in Hindi and Punjabi and covers the topics of symptoms, prevention and risks and will be used as a bowel cancer awareness tool for health promotion sessions and events run by volunteers.
The DVD will also help to increase awareness of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme and aims to remove barriers to uptake of screening amongst the South Asian community.
The event will be used to recruit volunteers from within the local South Asian community to carry out health promotion activities in the Southall area. The screening will be followed by musical entertainment.
