Power Station Proposal

Posted by James Gates on Oct 2, 08 01:22 PM in

Plans for a £30 million eco-friendly power station in Southall look likely to be submitted to Ealing Council next week.

The new scheme aims to provide electricity for around 50,000 homes and heat for district heating schemes.

The proposal, earmarked for the gasworks site in The Straight, would help the borough reduce carbon emissions.

A spokesman for developer Blue NG said it will pay for the development and there will be no money from the taxpayer involved.

"The timescale is subject to planning permission, but we aim to be generating green electricity in 2011.
"We hope to submit our application by October 8, certainly within the next few weeks. "

He said Southall was chosen as it has a Pressure Reduction Site (PRS) which is an essential part of the technology involved. A PRS is where the gas pressure is reduced before it is delivered to nearby homes and businesses.
