Disabled Woman Angry Over Parking

Posted by James Gates on Oct 22, 08 05:32 PM in

A SOUTHALL woman said she is disgusted with Ealing Council as it has done nothing to stop people using the disabled parking bay outside her home.

Sandip Kaur Lakhandal, 29, who lives in Inverness Road and uses a wheelchair, said other motorists have used the spot repeatedly, causing her massive inconvenience.

And she said despite repeated emails and telephone calls to Ealing Council, the authority is doing nothing to enforce the bay.

She said: "I'm just disgusted. It's a very annoying feeling because of the amount of chasing up that I have to do. I thought the problem would have been taken care of now but it hasn't.

"It causes me huge inconvenience because I very often have to find somewhere else to park my car and my parents have to bring me into the house."

She added she has also sent two application forms to the council requesting that it re-paint the markings in her bay but so far no-one has come.

"I've called the police but they have said it's a matter for the council, and anytime I've called the council no-one has gotten back to me. Now I just use traffic cones to stop people parking there."

A spokesman for Ealing Council said: "Our contractors will be re-painting the bays within 14 days. We would like to remind drivers that they should not park in a disabled bay unless they are also a blue badge holder."

We'd like to hear from you.

Some disabled drivers are also very inconsiderate.

They don't appreciate the problems they cause other disabled people who actually live there.
