Southall Builders Accused Of Rape

TWO builders from Southall await a jury's verdict after being accused of raping a prostitute in Swindon.

Arvinder and Karnail Singh are said to have dragged the heroin addict upstairs at a house they were working on before forcing her to have sex with them.

But the two men, who are not related and came to work on the property on Manchester Road from the Southall area of London, claim she consented to everything that went on.

The jury of nine men and three women heard how the woman approached the men as they worked outside the house on Wednesday February 6.

But once inside she said she was dragged upstairs and attacked by Arvinder, 22, and Karnail, 36.

Police called to the scene later found a clump of her hair which forensic experts said had been pulled out and a used condom which had DNA from all three of them on it.

When they were questioned the Singhs both denied having sex with the woman even when the evidence of the condom was put to them.

But they changed their stories to tell the jury that the woman had consented to having sex with them.

Arvinder, who had only been in the country for six weeks, told the jury he had never had sex before and went with the prostitute because he wanted to see if he could.

But he also said he was unable to achieve a full erection and ejaculated before he could have full sex with her.

He claimed the woman had tried to get away stealing his money and not providing the service he had paid for.

And he said he may have pulled her hair out as he tried to stop her getting to an open window to shout into the street.

But after they stopped her he said she became compliant and had consensual sex with him even kissing him goodbye as she left.

He said they had lied because they feared the police would beat them, as they do in India, and that it was shameful to have been with a prostitute.

The jury retired this morning (Thursday September 25) to consider their verdict. The case continues.

We'd like to hear from you.
