Millionaire Denies Murder

Posted by James Gates on Sep 25, 08 11:43 AM in

A wealthy businessman denied killing his wife more than nine years after she vanished without trace.

Martin Hale, 51, is accused of murdering his wife Maureen, who was last seen alive on June 22, 1999.

Hale, who runs a thriving fruit and vegetable wholesale business in Southall reported her missing to police three days later.

He was charged with murder in June 2008 after police conducted a painstaking search of the £1 million five bedroom mock Tudor mansion in picturesque Thames Ditton, Surrey.

There was no application for bail and Hale was remanded in custody to appear for trial at Kingston Crown Court on January 26 next year.
